Sewing since he was just 15, Ali Cheaib began his working seriously on his craft at an early age. He emigrated from Lebanon in 1997 has since established himself as the go-to tailor in metro Detroit. His demeanor, attention to detail, and passion for his work has helped him build lasting relationships with his customers -- whom he calls friends -- while earning his business numerous awards along the way. In 2014, Ali’s hard work and reputation paid off, when the producers of the “Batman v. Superman” movie asked him to do all of the suits and dresses for the movie over the five-month period they were filming in metro Detroit. Ali happily obliged, and ended up doing a number of personal garments for Ben Affleck and Jeremy Renner in addition to working with the rest of the cast on their wardrobe.
Visit Ali's shop nearly any day of the week and you can find him hunched over one of his many Juki sewing machines, cracking jokes with his wife Lisa and customers, or offering up his advice on how potenital new client can best wear an item of clothing.
